No security threat against players so far, say FAM

PETALING JAYA: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will only seek advice from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) if there was a security threat during an Asia Cup 2019 third round match against North Korea."Thus far there is no issue. We will refer to the AFC and the North Korean embassy if there is a need. If the FAM feel the safety of players will be at stake during the match against North Korea, we will contact the AFC.

"Right now everything is okay. If there is a necessity the AFC may decide to play the match at a neutral venue or postpone the match," said FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.Hamidin was commenting on reports that Wisma Putra had Monday recalled Malaysian Ambassador to North Korea from Pyongyang.
