Man loses leg for rubbing croc's snout

Sandakan: A 35-year-old local was critically injured after he was mauled by a 800kg crocodile at a farm, here, Monday. District Police Chief ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin said police received a report at 3.09pm on Monday regarding the incident which happened at the crocodile farm's performance pond. "Preliminary investigation showed that the victim is a part-timer who had been working in the farm for the past six months. He was hired to work in the bird section and to train the birds for performances," he said.ADVERTISEMENT He added that during the 1.45pm incident, a witness saw the victim heading towards the crocodile performance pond bringing a chicken carcass to feed the crocodile.After feeding the crocodile, the victim rubbed the crocodile's snout, causing the reptile to react violently and attack him.A fellow employee who saw the incident managed to force the crocodile to let go of the man, who lost his right leg right up to the knee while his right hand was completely mangled.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
