A MANGGATAL villager urged Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to restore the transmission cable that was hit by a large tree in Kampung Kapor Pulutan recently.

According to the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) Chairman Johnny Baba, the folks who reside in the area are worried about their safety as the cables are within their reach.

"The fruit tree that stood next to the power line was uprooted during a recent stormy weather," he told Hotline on Feb 10.

Asked whether the matter had been brought to the attention of the firm, he replied yes.

"Their delay is what prompted us to highlight this to Hotline in the hope of getting attention from them," he added.

He feared that the cables would take its toll on the massive weight of the fallen tree.

"What if the cables suddenly snap and land on the grassy area where people frequent on foot?," he asked, who hoped the case would be prioritised by the firm.

A SESB spokesman, when contacted recently, assured that its staff at the technical section would be asked to verify the complaint soon as possible.

"The clasps that hold the cables will be checked so that it won't fail after being straightened out later," he added.

He said the public are urged to make full use of its Hotline numbers at 1-5454 or 088-515000 when reporting such situation so that restoration work can be done immediately. (OV)
