Putatan: A TECHNICAL fault is behind the telephone woes which two Telekom Malaysia (TM) Bhd subscribers in Putatan have been experiencing for more than a month. Those trying to contact the phone numbers at their homes in Kg Baru and Taman Bersatu claimed a sound like the line had been disconnected was audible.A TM spokesman regretted the inconvenience caused, saying there was a problem with the firm's underground cable servicing these customers.ADVERTISEMENT He said the company's technicians were still in the process of trying to restore the affected telephone lines."It is taking some time to rectify as there are multiple faults," he said.He said its staff were facing an uphill task dealing with this problem as the telecommunications disruption covered an extensive area."The management will weigh up the possibility of giving the affected subscribers a rebate on their charges during this period, provided that they lodge a report with staff at our '100 – Customer Care' line."ADVERTISEMENT YASIN, who lives in Taman Bersatu, said he had been unable to make or receive telephone calls as no dial tone was audible when the receiver is picked up.He said the phone had been in this condition since the middle of December.

"I was told at one stage to be patient as the relevant section was attending to my report."Yasin bemoaned the inconvenience of being without a telephone."I fear that I will have no way of calling for help if my handphone battery dies and an emergency occurs at home."He claimed to have never been late in settling her monthly bills and felt that it was unfair to pay for a service which was unreliable at best.A Kg Baru resident, DI, was upset about the lengthy delay she had experienced in having her phone and internet service restored. She said she had been unable to surf the Net or use her home phone since the end of January."I have lodged numerous complaints with TM's 100 - Customer Assistance staff," she said.Di said she was given reference numbers to follow up on the progress of her grievance.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
