Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah President Cup squad hopes to open their 2017 season with a win against Perak State Development Corporation Football Club (PKNP FC) in a Group B encounter at the Likas Stadium today (Thursday) starting at 4.15pm.Team manager Datuk Juil Nuatim said they are trying their best to make a strong start in the new season and a win and three points is the target."Three points is our target and I hope the players can produce their best and deliver a positive result after all the preparation and hard work by all parties involved.

"Coach Justin (Ganai) has done all his best to prepare the team over the past months with the help of his assistants and the pre-season matches also indicated that the players are in a good frame of mind ahead of the season opener."Although they were meant to be friendlies, the wins over FAM Cup outfit KDMM FC and the senior team without the foreign imports certainly gave us the confidence that is needed for the challenge this year and now the ball is at the players' feet to do the talking tomorrow."Juil also hoped the unexpected third place finish in the Kuching Sukma Games last year will lay the foundation to bring success this season."I have confidence in this group of young players. My target this season is for the team to reach at least the quarterfinal stage.
