Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Jimmy Wong has taken City Hall to task over a parking fine paid by a motorist 14 years ago but is still being pursued with legal action. He said the motorist, Lim Eng Chong, 56, still keeps the payment receipt to prove that he had paid the RM30 fine in 2003."How is it possible that he is still being chased after to settle the fine that he had already paid?

I suggest the City Hall to check its records properly," he told reporters, Wednesday.According to Wong, the motorist, who is addressed in Kolombong, received a second notice from the City Hall dated Feb 17, this year asking him to settle a "Tawaran Kompaun" amounting to RM170 within 14 days from the date of notice, failing which he would be fined not more than RM5,000 plus other costs.Wong said he had to highlight the case to prevent future occurrence."For all we know there might be many more motorists who share the same experience.

The City Hall needs to look into this," he said while also questioning if it is lawful for the City Hall to demand the payment after more than 10 years. On another matter, Wong expressed full support to the City Hall's plan to implement free bicycle riding services.
