Kota Kinabalu: State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun has stepped in to assist Julitah Bahiau who had been given the run-around over her son's birth certificate by the National Registration Department (NRD). He said he is all out to help when it comes to a fellow constituent from Ranau, where he is the Karanaan Assemblyman. ADVERTISEMENT "I have instructed my officers to get in touch with her and offer help wherever she needs. I have also contacted the Christian Bureau to provide the aid she needs to get things done," he said. Julitah's story was publicised in the local media where her son, Aryton Verlando, was not given any birth certificate after she refuted the word "Muslim" on it. She had told the NRD that her son was not raised a Muslim and that she too was not a Muslim, although her MyKad had the word "Islam" imprinted on it. ADVERTISEMENT Julitah also produced her baptismal certificate to support her claim but, instead, the NRD told her to get the release order from Sabah Religious Islamic Council (Muis) to enable them to delete "Islam" on her Mykad, thus allowing them to amend her son's birth certificate. Julitah said she was not able to register her son for school due to the documentation issue, adding that she had also suffered losses trying to meet the requirements.
