Darell, Junz misused by Shafie, claims Mojigoh
Putatan: United Pasok Momogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) Vice President Datuk Seri Marcus Mojigoh (pic) denied that Upko is a racist party or that it had been referring to Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) as a Suluk party."We were not referring to Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal also.

What we have been referring to is that when he was in the Cabinet, he did a lot of things without going through the State Government, the people's representatives or the District Office.

"This is the case with Putatan. He had been doing the projects by himself. And who did he give (these projects)?

These people from Semporna. Are you saying they are not racist?" he asked when met after the ground-breaking ceremony of the Moyog River Basin Mitigation Project, Monday.

Mojigoh was commenting on a video of Warisan Deputy President Darell Leiking at a Parti Warisan function where he claimed Kadazandusuns in Penampang were racist for being anti-Bajau and anti-Suluk because it is led by Shafie who is a Bajau-Suluk.

In the video, Darell apologised to Shafie on behalf of the Kadazandusuns in Penampang.

This prompted a response from Upko Penampang Chief Datuk Donald Mojuntin who rubbished Darell's allegation saying that Upko never made any statement that is anti-Suluk and accused Darell of inciting hatred between the communities.

Trying to diffuse the situation, Mojigoh explained that Upko, as a party, is not racist especially because its membership is open to all races.

"But what my colleague had uttered may have been misinterpreted and taken out of context.

So if that is what had happened, I think I would like to apologise on behalf of the party.

"But Warisan, we have no qualm against the party. They are all my friends. Shafie is my friend.

So also the leaders of other parties. Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee is my friend, so is Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan.

"Who else is not our friend? But in politics, the tendency is debating who is better than the other.

That's normal in politics," he said.

Mojigoh also defended Barisan Nasional's policies saying that no other party could hold a candle against the ruling coalition and if Shafie wanted a better policy, he should have stayed in BN and voice it out instead of fighting against BN.

The power sharing concept of BN, he said, is the true multiracial concept which created the 1Malaysia model.

"It is unfortunate that the people on the ground did not support the idea.

All these made it difficult for the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to achieve his mission, which is a continuation of his late father's mission.

He is trying to get the Chinese to work with him but many did not respond because of fanaticism," he said.

As to what Warisan is doing, he said it is good that Warisan has people like Darell and Vice President Junz Wong to lure the people from the rural areas to support the party.

"But whether the people buy it or not, that is another matter. My advice to those who are influenced by these two, shy away from these people, because I believe they have been misused by Shafie to get their support," he said. - Tracy Patrick
