Siringan is recovering

Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Siringan Gubat is in stable condition and responding to treatment at the intensive care unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital after he suffered a heart attack on Saturday.The 68-year-old Resource Development and Information Technology Minister "is in a stable condition and showing signs of improving" on Monday, said his aide Larry Ralon.

Ralon said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman visited Sirigan, who is Upko deputy president, and was briefed on his condition by the cardiologist at the hospital. Present was Upko president Datuk Seri Madius Tangau, who is Science Technology and Innovation Minister.

Musa also met Siringan's wife Rozelind Gubat and other family members at the hospital.

Siringan, who is Paginatan assemblyman, suffered breathing difficulties and was coughing badly at around 8.20pm Saturday while he was with his family in Ranau town about 110km from here.

Family members rushed him to Ranau district hospital before he was transferred by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital here early Sunday.

Prior to the heart attack, Siringan had attended a function in Ranau.
