PPBM no-show at Pakatan seats meeting

Kuala Lumpur: A meeting to discuss seat allocations between parties in Pakatan Harapan and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) went ahead despite the absence of representatives from the Malay-based party.The three Pakatan parties – PKR, DAP and Amanah – reached an understanding during the meeting that lasted three hours.Among those who attended were DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke, Amanah secretary-general Anuar Tahir and PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar.

"PPBM needs a little more time to identify the seats it wants to contest."That's understandable as they were only set up recently and are still in the process of assessing their strengths and capabilities," PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution told reporters.PPBM, which is led by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was formed in September last year.Saifuddin said this when asked to comment on the absence of PPBM's deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir and vice-president Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman at today's meeting.

He also said there would be only be a few instances of multi-cornered fights in the next general election which the respective parties would iron out.PH and PPBM are looking to avoid three-cornered fights in the next polls in a bid to wrest Putrajaya from the Barisan Nasional.
