Kota Kinabalu: Justin Ganai called on the players to take their chances against table toppers Negeri Sembilan in the Group B clash of the President Cup match today (Thursday) at the Likas Stadium at 4.15pm."We wasted plenty of scoring opportunity in our first two games and I hope the players will find their scoring boots tomorrow.

"The team played well overall and created tons of chances but unfortunately they just could not put the finishing touches and I hope tomorrow it will all come good for the team," he said on Wednesday.

He said the match today will be a very good test to see how the players fare against one of the favourite teams this season who are top of the table with a maximum six points.

"It is going to be a very tough encounter for the boys. We need the win to kick-start our season and despite playing well in the opening matches, we have yet to take maximum points.

"We will lose further ground if we cannot get the three points so I hope the players will try their very best to deliver tomorrow. They not only have to play well but they must turn their dominant performance into victory."

Sabah opened their campaign this season against PKNP here at the Likas Stadium and despite taking an early lead, they were forced to share the points after their opponents scored with their only clear chance in the game.

The second game was almost a carbon copy of the first with Sabah dominating from the start and took the lead first but conceded a late goal against PKNS.

Justin will have a fully fit squad available for the match today and the only likely change is Stanley Sulong who may be benched.

The former Youth Cup player was off-colour during the PKNS game and his place may be taken over by O' Neil Shanahan Marcellinus Bungkilan.

The other players who may start the match are Ranilson Batuil, Masran Masri, Dexy Mildy Juanis, Hamran Peter, Devid Ansarui, Eddey Ladius, Masmilan Anil Matlan, Fazreil Hanafi Stepanus, Mohd Azmizan Ruslih and Muhd Zaki Sabri.

Meanwhile, the Sabah Under-19 squad failed to get maximum points in their Youth Cup Group B away match against Perlis at Stadium Tuanku Syed Putra, Kangar on Wednesday.

It was an agonising outing for Jelius Ating's boys as they conceded a goal deep into injury time for a 2-2 draw with the home team.

Both teams failed to score in the first half and Perlis snatched the lead first in the 50th minute through Muhd Haziq Mohd Subri before it was equalised by Jeniun Karib 10 minutes later.

Aidil Safee then struck in the 72nd minute to give Sabah a 2-1 lead before the late goal from Muhd Azam Adzim Ahmad Kamal denied them the three points.

With the stalemate, Sabah have collected four points from one win and a draw in the opening three matches.

Their next match is against SSTNI Under-16 team away on April 2 at the Stadium Juara SSTMI, Bandar Penawar in Johor. - GL Oh
