32 matches played, another 20 today

Sandakan: Day one of the Borneo Sevens International Clubs Rugby Tournament 2017 saw 32 matches played in the group level.

The Korean women team in Group B beat Eagles RFC Philippines 31-05, while Malaysia women defeated Singapore 32-0 in another Group B match.

Sri Lanka women in Group A defeated Sabah Eagles 48-0.

In the men's event, NZ Borneo Eagles in Group A defeated Singapore 60-0 while Tribe 7s in Group B defeated Cobra 45-0.

The Hong Kong team were beaten by Sabah Eagles 12-14 while DBKL defeated Alabang Eagles with 47-7.

Tribe 7s men later defeated Sri Lanka 24-19 while NZ Borneo Eagle beat the Cobra 57-0 and DBKL defeated Malaysia 36-0. The Hong Kong team won defeated Alabang Eagles 40-12.

In another women event in Group B, Korea defeated Malaysia 17-0 while Singapore were beaten by Eagles RFC Philippines 12-38.

In Group A, Sri Lanka men defeated Singapore 50-17 while Malaysia were beaten by Sabah Eagles 5-14 and NZ Borneo Eagles loss to Tribe 7s from Australia 4-36.

Hong Kong's men team defeated DBKL with 12-5 while Sri Lanka defeated Cobra 40-0 and Malaysian men defeated Alabang Eagles 21-15.

Ten men and seven women team join the 15th edition of the competition at IJM, Mile 16, Sandakan. Today (Sunday), the final day, 20 matches will be played.

Meanwhile, President ERC and Organising Chairman, Velayuthan Tan was glad that this edition of the Borneo Sevens saw more team participating. - Mardinah Jikur
