Kota Kinabatangan: Kinabatangan Member of Parliament Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin wants drastic measures to be taken to stop further crocodile attacks in Sungai Kinabatangan. He said residents living along its banks and fishermen are now living constant fear over the dangers of another attack.

"We want the Wildlife Department to take active steps to stop this from repeating.

"Everyone is now living in fear of another crocodile attack which had already seen residents being killed in such incidents," he said.

Bung said this in view of the missing person report on a 50-year-old man and his 13-year-old son said to be victims of a crocodile attack near Supu in Sungai Kinabatangan.

The two were reported missing after failing to return home to the Sri Tanjung Bersatu village settlement near Bukit Garam after going out for a fishing trip at the river last Saturday.

Bung said the Wildlife Department must take steps to control such attacks and manage the reptile's population as attacks had becoming more rampant of late.

Towards this end, he wants the department to follow what Sarawak is doing in allowing the hunting of crocodiles to manage its population.
