Peter clinches challenge trophy

Kota Kinabalu: Peter Tan clinched the Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan challenge trophy held at the Borneo Golf Resort (BGR), Bongawan recently.He carded a one over 73 to pip Ng Loong Fah on count back (OCB) for the title which was his second triumph in a week following his victory in the Senior Open at the same course.Third place went to Zamri Mokhtar who was a shot behind followed by Nurain Zaini (75) and Mat Jaidin Md Yassin (76).

In the nett events, Medal A winners were decided by OCB among four golfers who returned with identical 38 points and Poney Kiob was declared the champion followed by Maximillian B. Boijol, George Gangko and Abdullah Okin, while Fabian Faurillo took the fifth spot with37 points.Medal B category also saw three players tied with 38 points and Md Jali Nordin was the winner on count back .Azmi Juatan and Ebrahim Wasly had to settle for second and third place while fourth place went to Neldin Gimbang (37) with Razali Zinin (36) in fifth.Another OCB had to apply for the Medal C category after five returned with 36 points.

Laksamana Muda Datuk Abd Rahman was then crowned the champion followed by Mibi Mongai, Mat Salleh Sapong, Wang Kui Tsyang and Ranjeet Singh.The women title went to Datin C.Y. Ooi with 34 points, three points ahead of Datin Fauziah Abu Bakar in second place with Dionysia Kibat in third with 30 points.
