Kota Kinabalu: It will be an uphill task for him, but newly-appointed State President's Cup team manager Azman Mastar is ready to perform his duty with full dedication. The 50-year-old was appointed to helm the team, replacing Datuk Juil Nuatim who was tasked to manage the senior team, as part of the recent reshuffling of Sabah football by Safa President cum Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

"The appointment is a big challenge for me, especially when Sabah football is not so good this season.

"However, I will face the challenge with full responsibility and dedication, in line with the determination of Datuk Seri Musa who wanted to find the best solution to revive our football accomplishments," he said.

Thanking Musa for his trust in him, Azman pledged his commitment to carry his duty and will make use of his past experiences to uplift the team's performance.

"I hope everyone, including fellow coaches, players, management and fans will provide their cooperation and support to me."

Azman used to be the State Under-18 Cup team's assistant coach and had represented Sabah in Razak's Cup 1984, President's Cup 1985, Sukma 1986, Borneo Cup 1987, Malaysia Cup 1988 and coached the Sandakan team from 1995-1996.

Recently, Musa had announced the appointment of several former State players as head coaches for the Premier League, President's Cup and Youth Cup squads with immediate effect due to the lacklustre performance of the teams this season.
