UMS, Biosain sign MoA on oil recovery system

Kota Kinabalu: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) on Monday signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Biosain Technologies Sdn Bhd to conduct a collaborative research project on developing an oil recovery system.The MoA was signed between UMS Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof Dr D. Kamarudin D. Mudin, on behalf of UMS, and Biosain Technologies Sdn Bhd director Chung Chin Hing.Based on the MoA, Biosain Technologies Sdn Bhd will provide research fund of RM100,000 while UMS will provide RM70,000, for the three-year collaborative research.ADVERTISEMENT UMS Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Harun Abdullah in his speech, which was read by UMS Engineering Faculty lecturer D. "This research is very important because it contributes to providing the solution for the POME pollution to the environment and it will also contribute to increasing the oil extraction rate which is financially significant for the palm oil industry players," he said.Harun said the collaboration was another milestone for UMS in pursuing closer ties with the industries, especially companies based in Sabah and hoped more collaborations like this could be established.
