20 years, 10 strokes for raping stepdaughter

Lahad Datu: A 42-year-old foreigner, who raped his 14-year-old stepdaughter, was sentenced to 20 years' jail and ordered given 10 strokes of the cane.The nursery worker pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Zaini Fishir to raping the minor at 8pm between Sept 15 and Nov 17, 2016 at a hut in the nursery, here. Zaini also ordered the man referred to the Immigration Department after completing his jail sentence.

According to the facts of the case, the victim's mother had married the man in 2005. From September to November 2016, the victim's mother was away in her hometown in Indonesia following the death of her family member.The victim along with her younger brother and sister were left under the care of the man. However, the man took advantage of the victim.
