Two drug pushers with Bakakuks held

Kunak: Two drug pushers, aged 24 and 28, were nabbed during a special "Ops Sarang Bersepadu" for having homemade firearms in their possession at the Suntai 2 Sabahan oil palm estate off Jalan Kunak-Lahad Datu, here, Wednesday. "The two paperless Bugis men have been identified by police as dangerous and feared by the estate workers because they were armed with bakakuk (homemade firearms)," said District Police Chief Supt Mohd Nasaruddin M. Nasir.

He said investigations also showed that they have been actively involved in drug distribution activities here since last year.

Nasaurddin said the arrest came after police from the Criminal Investigation Department, Special Branch, narcotics division, Special Task Force and Officer-in-Charge of Station raided a workers quarters in the area about 12.30am.

He said the suspect refused to open the door forcing the police team to gain entry by kicking open the main door and apprehending the suspect in one of the rooms.

Inspections led to the discovery of two bakakuk, two marble airguns, three Winchester bullets, 31 marbles and two motorcycles which are believed to have been stolen.

Police also found 58.89 grammes of syabu worth about RM4,500 in the market.

The drugs were found in a white envelope containing several plastic packets of various sizes, kept inside a sling bag which was hung on the wall together with drug paraphernalia.

In a separate operation, police detained four paperless Indonesians aged between 17 and 24, at a house at Ladang PJ Sabahan at about 1.30am the same day.

All four were roped in after they tested positive for drugs and were found without documents. - Ibrahim Tabir
