Swimming coach drowns in condo pool
Kota Kinabalu: A three-day vacation turned tragic for a family from Brunei when one of them, a swim coach, drowned at the swimming pool of a condominium, here, Wednesday. Muhammad Raemy Abdul Rahman (pic), 40, was rushed to hospital and was pronounced dead by medical officers despite numerous efforts to revive him.

City Police Chief ACP M. Chandra said initial findings showed that the man was in the pool with his 31-year-old fiancé at about 11.40am when his failure to resurface from the base of the pool prompted her to call for help.

The woman's older sister dived into the pool before resurfacing with the man.

At about 12.15pm the man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical officers.

The family arrived in Sabah on Friday and was scheduled to return to Brunei today.

Initial inspections on the remains showed no visible injuries, neither were there any criminal elements found.

However investigations are continuing. - Sherell Ann Jeffrey
