Juniors still searching for elusive win

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah suffered their third defeat this season as they went down 0-1 to Perak in the President Cup Group B match at the Likas Stadium on Monday.It was a very poor display by the team and they were lucky that the visitors were no better than them on the day.Sabah still chasing their first win of the season in fact started quite well and Hamran Peter who was called up by senior team coach Jelius Ating in the match against Kuantan FA last week should have put them ahead in the opening minute but his header went wide under no pressure from the Perak players.

After the early domination, the home team faded away and Masran Masri was the busiest among the two keepers on the pitch as Perak started to mount several attacks into Sabah territory until the 32nd minute when they had a chance to take the lead but Hamran saw his goal-bound grounder pushed away by the Perak keeper instead.The visitors continued to dominate thereafter but just like the home team, poor finishing hardly saw any of their shots on target as the first half ended goalless.Hamran missed another chance to redeem himself when his free header again failed to find the net at the start of the second half.And just as the match headed seemed for a stalemate with less than three minutes to go before the final whistle, Sabah's defence was caught napping when Masran failed to hold the ball cleanly and with no support from any of his teammates, Dhaya Maidu Samudram had the easy task to put the ball into the net for the winner despite a desperate attempt by Masran to save his shot.
