Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan Sabah Deputy President Darell Leiking has taken offence with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi's insinuation that 'political instability' will likely ensue if Warisan forms the new government in the State."First of all, I am thankful that Zahid had given his acknowledgement that Warisan is indeed a credible government-in-waiting opponent through the intense grassroots rallying the party had done.

"However, Zahid showed his lack of understanding towards the feelings of Sabahans when he conveniently blamed Usno, Berjaya and PBS as the reason for political instability in Sabah.

"The underlying problem in Sabah is not about changing the government; it was never an issue that Usno or Berjaya were bad parties. It was about abuses of power, corruption scandals and those who just forgot to be servants of those who elected them to office," he said.

Darell said PBS did nothing wrong apart from ditching BN just before the 1990 General Election and because of this, BN decided to rob PBS of its victory in the 1994 general election.

He said Zahid should explain whether the Federal government had acted as a 'good' government when it deprived the PBS government the much needed Federal funding between the period of 1985-1994.

Instead, he said the Federal government created the Federal Development Office (JPPS) to channel funds for Federal projects in Sabah despite the fact that Sabah was a major contributor to the development of other states in Malaya through the petroleum products being taken out from the State by Petronas.

Darell also pointed out that Sabahans are not afraid to change the government because they have a very strong connection with the land and will not tolerate any clear wrongdoings.

"Needless to say, corruption and abuse of funds and powers are the biggest problems such as the scandals being found in the State departments such as Jabatan Air and a host of other abuses will be part of the reasons why Sabahans will simply boot BN State component parties this coming election.

"So Zahid should not insult Sabahans when they are tired of the dramas by Umno Federal and State leaders and repeated propagandas of the so-called 'People's Government'; they will just decide to change," he said.

Darell also said that rather than blaming Warisan for the so-called 'political instability' in the State once it forms the new State government, Zahid should at least acknowledge that it is all Umno Sabah's own incompetency that caused Warisan to enjoy the tremendous support from Sabahans.
