Four Sabahans to attend selection trial

Kota Kinabalu: Four State karatekas are to attend the national back-up squad selection trial for the 2018 Youth Olympics Games in Argentina which will be conducted on Saturday (April 22) in Bukit Jalil.The four athletes called up by the national body are Muhammad Aiman Azlan, Ivan Charles, Cairola Wong and Mary Vellendra Godfrey.

Sabah Karate Association Secretary General Julian Chin said they are very happy with the call up.

"We are certainly very happy. It showed that the development programme that we have been doing all this while are producing result and hopefully these athletes and others waiting in the wings can progress further," he said.

Meanwhile, the athletes accompanied by coach Danny Fredoline left for the national capital on Thursday evening. – GL Oh
