BANGKOK: Former Thailand national coach Kiatisuk Senamuang will not be the new Harimau Malaya head coach despite intense speculation in Malaysia linking him with the coveted job.His wife Asarapa Senamuang who answered a call from Bernama here today, poured cold water on any speculation of her husband becoming Malaysia"s new national football coach.

"No, he did not have any negotiation with any team at the moment. He is with his own work right now and has not accepted any job offer from anybody," she said, when asked about the lingering speculation of her husband taking over the job which was held by Datuk Ong Kim Swee before this.

Kiatisuk or "Zico" as he was better known during his playing days, was sacked by Thailand football association recently after a lacklustre World Cup Qualifying (Asian Zone) campaign where his charges only managed a single point from seven matches.

Thailand"s former striker according to Asarapa, was taking a much-needed rest right now and was not ready to undertake any assignment for the time being.

On Friday, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim in a media conference in Johor Bahru said, the identity of Harimau Malaya"s new head coach will be announced shortly.

According to the newly elected president, a meeting with the "potential individual" will be held to assess his suitability with the job, but declined to divulge the identity of the individual.

Tunku Ismail, who is also Johor Crown Prince had before this announced the appointment of former JDT coach Mario Gomez as the new National coach but it did not materialised as the Argentinean had allegedly demanded for a higher wage. – Bernama
