Kota Kinabalu: Host team Kota Kinabalu dominated the recently held 31st edition of the Sabah Inter Affiliates Tennis Championship by winning all four categories. They captured all the trophies at stake to emerge the overall champions and clinch the Chief Minister's Trophy when they bagged the men's (Sports Minister's Trophy), ladies (Tourism Minister's Trophy), junior (Ajit Mannan Trophy) and veteran (STA President's Trophy) titles.

Sandakan took second spot with Lahad Datu in third while Kudat claimed fourth position.

This year saw stiff competition among all the eight affiliates that took part.

This came about after players were allowed to play for another district if they are not listed in their own district due to excess players in each district.

The last few years saw some districts with not enough players to register a team becoming punching bags after they could not find better players. However, this year there were no punching bags as everybody was on the alert as the players were of good standard and could upset anyone.

Sabah Tennis Association President (STA) Johnson Koh expressed his happiness at seeing all the players having the chance to play among all the State players.

He said this once a year tradition must be upheld so that the tennis fraternity will stay in touch and also boost the competitiveness of all district players.
