Penampang: The announcement by Momogun National Congress (MNC) President Datuk Henrynus Amin to quit Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) to lead another political party, Parti Kerjasama Rakyat Sabah (Pakar), is no surprise.PBS Secretary-General Datuk Johnny Mositun said the party had yet to receive the resignation letter from Henrynus, although he had notified him (Mositun) via WhatsApp.

"He had been distancing himself from the PBS leadership since he had been replaced as Secretary General and also failed in his bid for the deputy presidency of the party three years ago.

"Henrynus stood for Deputy President in the last PBS party elections but lost to incumbent and now Acting President, Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili.

Mositun said if Henrynus was implying that PBS had abandoned its struggle or deviated from its "original" objectives by re-joining the Barisan Nasional (BN) and was not fighting for KDM interests, it was totally misleading and unfounded.

"Let's be clear on this. PBS was not founded to oppose Kuala Lumpur or the BN. It was founded to oppose the dictatorial Berjaya regime and to stand up for the rights of all Sabahans as equals under the Malaysian sun.

That was and still is the main agenda of PBS."

"He knows our stand on Sabah rights, he knows our stand on religious freedom, he knows our stand on autonomy, he knows our stand on revenues and natural resources, and he knows our stand on citizenship and illegal immigrants. Which of these matters have PBS been abandoned or deviated from?" he said.
