SDSC swimmers emerge top at Brunei meet

Kota Kinabalu: Sea Dragon Swimming Club (SDSC) came top in the recent 25th Brunei Age Group Swimming Championship 2017 held in Hassanal Bolkiah National Swimming Pool, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.They captured 38 gold, 17 silver and 17 bronze medals to beat Indonesia team, who had 35 golds, 16 silvers and 16 bronzes, to the title, with Gymkhana Club Miri in third with 32 gold, 43 silver and 30 bronze medals.

Medal contributors for SDSC were Eric Bong (boy 12-13): Gold (G) 13, Silver (S) 4: Yong Ming Li (girl 12-13): G9; Lai Qian Ying (girl 14-15): G7, S2; Yong Zi Yi (girl 14-15): G5, S1, Bronze (B) 2; Yeo Tang Kiat (boy 16-18): G2, S2, B2; Dean Knight (boy 16-18): G2, B2; Chu Zhun Shenn (boy 14-15): S1, B2; Gasten Gan (boy 12-13): B2; Cheng Ling An (boy 14-15): S3, B4; Etienne Michel (boy 16-18): S4; Stanley Chong (boy 10-11): B2 and Stephanie Chong (girl 10-11): B1.

Club President cum Coach, Johnny Wong was surprised and happy with the result.

"This success was due to the hard work and support from all involved including the parents especially Madam Maria and Mdm Suha for taking care of the swimmers' food and transportation throughout the competition," he said.

The 21-member team was led by team manager Angeline Cheng for the competition which was competed by a total of 13 teams. – GL Oh
