Kota Kinabalu: A 27-year-old foreigner surrendered to police two hours after he held two women hostage, separately, after trying to evade arrest for breaking into a house at Luyang Phase 1, Wednesday.KK Acting Police Chief Supt George Abdul Rahman (pic) said the drama unfolded at 7.30pm when the man, wearing long pants and shirtless, broke into a bungalow at Lorong Senduduk, behind the Luyang Restaurant and Luyang Police Station. When police arrived, he grabbed a woman occupant of the house, believed to be a foreigner, and pressed a sharp weapon on her neck before dragging her away on foot.ADVERTISEMENT After about 200 metres, the man let the woman go and entered a semi-detached house whose gate was open and grabbed a 23-year-old woman and pointed the same weapon at her neck. This prompted police to cordon off the area, causing massive traffic jam and motorists eager to find out what was going on.The girl's mother and relatives could only watch in horror as the drama unfolded. She was visiting the house when she was grabbed. The gate was open as she and the occupants of the house were about to go out.ADVERTISEMENT The suspect then coolly walked to Damai and stopped near the Damai 2020 Restaurant, the rows of shophouses before QEH2 in the full view of policemen, firemen and ambulances. Policemen tried negotiating with him to let go of the woman but he stood firm.
