PETALING JAYA: World number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei pledged to continue working hard to win titles at the highest level and focus on the Sudirman Cup and World Championships this year. Chong Wei whose sponsorship deal with 100Plus was extended for another two years would remain the isotonic drink manufacturer's brand ambassador until 2019.

"The support from 100Plus has given me the impetus to work hard, especially during the Sudirman Cup which starts on Sunday and the World Championships in August. I am thankful for the support provided by 100Plus all these years.

"The company continued to support me even when I was suspended for a doping offence.

Therefore, as the "Brand Ambassador" I need to work very hard in all tournaments that I participate.

For the Sudirman Cup we need to work extra hard because one half of our mixed doubles pair, Goh Liu Ying, is injured," he told reporters after signing the sponsorship deal with 100Plus here, Monday.

The 34-year old player has been the Brand Ambassador for 100Plus since 2009.

Chong Wei, together with other 100Plus ambassadors Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong (men's doubles), Chan Peng Soon (mixed doubles) and Goh Jin Wei will head to the Gold Coast, Australia on Wednesday while Liu Ying is in Germany to seek consultation and treatment for her injury.

The others in the Sudirman Cup team are Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin (men's singles); Teo Ee Yi/Ong Yew Sin (men's doubles); Chan Peng Soon/Cheah Yee See and Tan Kia Meng/Lai Pei Jing (mixed doubles); Sonia Cheah (women's singles); Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei and Chow Mei Kuan/Lee Meng Yean (women's doubles).

Malaysia are drawn in Group C with Japan and Germany. – Bernama
