Jailed, fined for assaulting two men in Penampang

Kota Kinabalu: A 23-year-old man was sentenced to four months' jail and fined RM1,400 or two months' jail for assaulting two men in Penampang recently.Asrin Rosani admitted before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun to causing hurt to one Jatin Japrin and Japin Jasi on May 14 at the My Café, Beverly Hill.He was jointly charged with another two accused, Laiman Inggot, 19, and Moison Subangir under Section 323 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine or both on conviction.

Moison claimed trial while Laiman pleaded guilty but the court deferred his sentencing to June 19 while waiting for his social report from the Welfare Department.Moison was offered bail at RM1,800 in two sureties pending mention on June 9.Inspector Rasydan Jasni, prosecuting, told the court that Jatin and Japin were having a drinking session when they were assaulted with beer bottles and glasses by five men.Jatin knew three of the men as they worked at the same place as him.

The three men were arrested by police on May 16.The court heard that both Jatin and Japin suffered injuries in the attack with Jatin receiving 30 stitches each for wounds on his arm and head.

In another case, a 22-year-old housewife was fined RM1,000 or seven days' jail for engaging in a gambling session locally known as 'Wah Hui'.Rosliah Rosnin admitted to committing the offence at 2.30pm on May 5, 2016 in an outlet at the Standard supermarket in Putatan.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
