6 charged with rioting at pub

Kota Kinabalu: Six men were charged at the Magistrate's Court here with rioting at a pub here last week.Basri Bahtiar, 36, Kasman Mohd Bakri, 20, Masud Kudin, 29, Mohd Irfan Abu Bakar, 22, Muhd Faizal Alimuddin, 23, and Muhd Faizul Mustapa, 25, were jointly accused of committing the offence at 12.46am on May 18 at the Euphoria Pub, Waterfront, here.They claimed trial to the charge.

Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun set June 19 and offered the six bail at RM1,700 in two sureties.The offence under Section 148 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to five years or fine or both on conviction.Inspector Suzie Kupit prosecuted while the six were represented by counsel Nor Azmi Alimat.In another case, a 33-year-old boatman pleaded not guilty to disposing stolen properties.

Mohammad Aslal allegedly disposed a stolen watch and a bag at 2.40am on Dec 30, 2016 in a shop at Wisma Sabah here.He was charged under Section 414 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both on conviction.

The court released Mohammad on a bail of RM2,000 in two sureties pending case management on June 14.Meanwhile, three men were penalised for taking drugs.Md Hari Abdul Hamid, Azman Mohamad and Chua Pau Ching admitted to committing the offence at separate locations here last month.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
