Kota Kinabalu: Training will continue for the national women football team during the fasting month as they prepare for the upcoming SEA Games in August.Head coach Asyraaf Fong Abdullah said they will not rest on their laurels after the impressive win over Nepal in their second friendly on Wednesday.

"We will continue to train hard during the fasting month. We need to rectify our weaknesses and make the team much stronger."

According to him, one or two friendly matches are planned for the team in July and August.

"We are looking for a much stronger team in out next friendly in early July. There is plan to play against SAFF Champion India or we may go to Japan.

"What we are looking for are much stronger opponents because the matches against them will expose our weaknesses and also show our strength ahead of the meeting with our potential SEA Games opponents such as Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar."

He added that the team may play another match in August just before the start of the SEA Games.

"Before the start of the SEA Games, we may arrange another friendly in early August to ensure that the team are well prepared and the players are also mentally strong to face their opponents."

Asyraaf was also pleased with the new addition in the team which comprised 25 players at the moment.

"We have registered 25 players with few new faces and two were featured in the second match against Nepal, and we can see their strength, which is a positive sign." - GL Oh
