Johor: A masseur pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court here to a charge of using criminal force to outrage the modesty of his female client on May 7.Ramlee Abdullah, 53, made the plea before Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias after the charge was read out by a court interpreter.

The accused allegedly committed the offence against the 20-year-old woman at a house in Jalan Titiwangsa 13, Taman Tampoi Indah, near here, about 9.30am on May 7.

He was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine or whipping or any two of the penalties, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Mohd Nasir pressed for RM8,000 bail, but counsel Datin Freda Josephine Gonzales, representing the accused, asked for a lower bail on grounds that the accused was only earning RM1,500 a month and had to support his wife and six children aged between one month and 13 years.

The court set bail at RM4,000 with one surety and fixed June 13 for re-mention of the case and submission of documents.
