Bashir to take oath as Senator tomorrow

Labuan: A veteran Labuan Umno leader, Datuk Bashir Alias, has been appointed as a member of the Senate and will take his oath in Dewan Negara tomorrow (Monday).Alongside him will be Datuk Dr Asraf Wajdi Datuk Dusuki (re-appointed), Senator Prof Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian (re-appointed) and Zahari Sarip (new appointment).The three-year appointment is a first for Bashir, 52, who is Labuan Umno deputy divisional chief and also Labuan Corporation's Advisory Council chairman. I will do my best to serve and raise relevant issues in the best interest of all Malaysians in Labuan," he said.Bashir is the fifth politician from Labuan to be appointed a Senator; the others were Datuk Mohd Din Jaafar, Datuk Isli Siput, Datuk Mohd Omar Bledram and Datuk Yunus Kurus.
