Esscom's achievements under Bari hailed

Sandakan: The State Government and people of Sabah highly appreciate the sacrifices of the security forces especially the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) formerly headed by Commander Dato Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said among Esscom's success under Wan Bari's leadership included crippling attempts to kidnap in Lahad Datu and Semporna which led to the criminals being nabbed. "This clearly demonstrates the success and integrity of our security forces, especially Esscom in maintaining the safety and sovereignty of the country and welfare of the people," he said. ADVERTISEMENT "It is also important to increase the confidence and trust of the people as well as tourists on the security aspect of the State," he added. Wan Bari will be retiring on June 26. Musa described Wan Bari as a dedicated and experienced senior policeman whose services in Esscom are highly appreciated. He believes the success and achievements will also be continued by the new Esscom Commander Dato Hazani Ghazali, who has been with Esscom since it was established. Previously Hazani served as Deputy Director of Special Forces. Musa who is also Chairman of the State Security Committee said this during a media conference after witnessing the handing over of duty by Wan Bari to Hazani at Sri Libaran, Monday. ADVERTISEMENT The event also launched Esscom's new beret 'Wira Dibawah Bayu'.On another note, Musa said the State Government is also working with the Federal Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in executing higher safety standards in the country.

"The Prime Minister has given great help and contribution in ensuring the provision of security assets for the State, especially in the east coast. "With special attention by the Federal Government, Malaysians in Sabah feel confident about the level of safety," he said. Musa said the State Government is thus appreciative of the Federal Government's commitment in improving security in the Sabah. Meanwhile, Wan Bari thanked Musa who is also Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) Chairman for his guidance during his tenure as Esscom Commander from 2015 till now. "Without his guidance, Esscom would not have run smoothly and become what it is today," he said. He also thanked the State Government leaders for the support to the security forces where even during festive seasons they are not forgotten and are given Raya cookies. Meanwhile, Hazani expressed his determination to continue or revive the motto 'there is not a day without operation' among others. He also vowed to defend the State and its people. "With support from the Chief Minister and the people, security will continue to be upheld," he said. Also present were State Secretary, Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman, Federal Secretary to Sabah, Datuk Nor Rizan Mohd.
