Man to know fate on August 3

Kota Kinabalu: A local man charged with inciting his daughter to an act of gross indecency will get to know his fate on Aug 3 this year. Sessions Court Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad fixed the date for the man when the defence closed its case after calling four witnesses.The man allegedly incited the 14-year-old girl to an act of gross indecency in December 2015 and February 2016 at a house in Manggatal.

The offence under Section 377E of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to five years and whipping, on conviction.The prosecution had called six witnesses during the hearing.Deputy Public Prosecutor Hafizah Zahidah Abdullah conducted the prosecution while counsel P.J Perira represented the man.In another court, a 38-year-old Filipina was slapped with a fine of RM600 or spend two weeks in prison for breaching the condition on her work pass.

Russyl De Martin Bunayon pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz to breaching her pass by soliciting for prostitution at 10.45pm on June 13 this year at a hotel in Bandaran Berjaya, here.The court heard that Russyl's work pass had stated that she only was allowed to work at a laundry.

Meanwhile, 10 people were jailed four and five months for entering the State illegally.The court handed the sentence to the foreigners after they pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 6(1)© of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 which provides for a fine of up to RM10, 000 or a jail term of up to five years or whipping, on conviction.The men were also handed a stroke of the cane each except for the young offenders.They were arrested at different places in Kudat, Papar and Beaufort recently.The court ordered them to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrest.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
