Woman found dead in toilet of Manggatal home

Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old Chinese woman was found dead inside the toilet of the two-storey house she was staying near Pekan Manggatal, on Sunday.Ivy Siaw Wei (pic) was found motionless by her mother who alerted police at about 10pm. City Police Chief ACP M. Chandra said initial information gathered from the mother was that she returned home at about 9pm and tried to contact her daughter through her handphone. ADVERTISEMENT Her calls went unanswered and after a few moments she went to the bathroom and opened the door only to find her daughter seated but unresponsive. She rushed out to seek help from neighbours and alerted the police. Doctors who arrived at the scene moments later said the deceased could have died at around 2pm. Her remains were sent for post mortem. The motive for her death is still being probed and the case has been classified as sudden death. On Saturday, a 20-year-old Rungus was found hanged from a tress at the Muslim Cemetery in Taman Keramat here. ADVERTISEMENT At least three more cases were reported so far this year, involving a local who was found hanged from the ceiling of his house in Lahad Datu in February. A 21-year-old was also found hanged from a tree in Kampung Tombolion, Kota Belud on Jan. 12 and another also from a tree in Penampang the same day.
