Thunderstorms expected to continue

Kuala Lumpur: Strong westerly winds of 40-50 kilometres per hour (kmph) and with heavy waves are expected to occur in the waters of Phuket, Samui, Condore, Reef North, Layang-Layang and Palawan until Monday.East Malaysians, especially those working at sea, are advised to stay off the coastal areas of Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan as thunderstorms were expected to continue.

In a statement, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said thunderstorms in the waters of Mukah, Bintulu and Miri in Sarawak, West Coast, Kudat and Sandakan in Sabah and Labuan may cause strong winds up to 50 kilometres per hour (kmph).

"The condition with waves as high as 3.5 metres (11 feet) could pose as a danger to small boats," the statement said.
