Woman charged with murder of her 70-year-old mother

JELEBU: A 52-year-old woman was charged at the magistrate's court here with the murder of her 70-year-old mother in Bahau last month.M.Chinnamah was charged with murdering M.Pichai, 70 at her house between 11.30am and 5.20pm on June 30.No plea was recorded from the accused who was dressed in lock up attire.

The accused, who is from Ladang Bukit Pilah Rompin was calm when the interpreter read the charge before magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali.She was charged under section 302 of the Penal Code which provides the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.Deputy Public Prosecutor Wan Ahmad Hijrah Wan Abdullah prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented. Based on media reports, the deceased's grandchild found the victim's body sprawled in her house when she dropped in for a visit on July 1.
