Search for missing Labuan teen continues

Labuan: A major search operation resumed Thursday morning to locate the 16-year-old SMK Mutiara student who was feared drowned while swimming off Pantai Damai beach, near Kg Layangan, here, on Sunday.The teenager and his four other friends were swimming when they were hit by huge waves at around 4pm.Labuan Police Chief ACP Adzhar Othman said the area being searched has been widened, with teams searching further up and down the coastline.

"The search resumed this morning and the search area covered so far reached 92km of the coastline," he told reporters during his visit to the operation camp at Taman Damai beach, here, Thursday.He said the search parameters would be extended and a helicopter would be deployed to help in the operation.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Anyone with information should contact the nearest police station or call Labuan police station at 087-412222, he said.Agencies involved in the search are police, Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), corporate bodies of Labuan Liberty Port Management, Asian Supply Base Sdn Bhd, Kayak Club volunteers and villagers.
