Kota Kinabalu: A 19-year-old local, who admitted to having stolen properties, was ordered to perform community service for 150 hours.Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun made the order after hearing the social report tendered by the welfare officer on Mohd Khairil Ikmal Jasni.Khairil was accused of having four sets of stolen island gondola (display rack) belonging to Jian Hua Consultancy and Management Sdn Bhd at 2.15am on June 21 in a four-wheel-drive vehicle at Taman Soon Kiong, Lorong Bernam 3, Jalan Kolam.

He had committed the offence along with two men who were sentenced last month.The offence under Section 414 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between six months and seven years and liability of a fine, on conviction.
In another case, a grilled chicken wing seller pleaded not guilty to keeping a stolen smartphone.Bensijer Belsi, 32, is alleged to have had the item at 3am on June 26 by the roadside in front of the KGK Annex building in Penampang.

The court fixed Aug 10 for mention of the case.
