Tuaran: Sabah police have sufficient manpower and logistics to face the 14th General Election (GE14) when it is called, said Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Razarudin Husain (pic).He said the contingent has had two meetings with all district police officers to discuss their preparations for the GE14."We will carry out more meetings with the district police officers close to the general election.

"So far, we are ready for the GE14 and have prepared our men, accordingly," he said, after witnessing the handing over of the Tuaran police chief post from outgoing Supt Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek to acting Tuaran police chief ASP Raji Hussin Suhodin at the Tuaran police headquarters, Thursday.On whether Sabah police will seek assistance from their Sarawak counterparts, Razarudin said they will look into it but that the contingent has enough manpower, for now.
Meanwhile, Razarudin commended the district police here for succeeding in solving many crime cases."Last year, Tuaran police registered the crime rate at 80 per cent and the figure dropped to 55 per cent as of July this year, which accounted for a decline of 25 per cent.

"The police here have solved about 70 per cent of the crime cases which include murder, rape and vehicle thefts while 88 per cent of the housebreaking cases were solved," he said.Razarudin reminded Raji, who is acting Tuaran police chief temporarily, to continue the duties of Fuad before a new police chief is appointed.
