Najib congratulates Sabahan  Dance World Cup winners
Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has congratulated a group of dancers from Sabah who recently made Malaysia proud by bagging the gold medal and Chairman's Choice Award at the Dance World Cup 2017 in Germany."It was heartening to see our youth from Kota Belud, Sabah flying the Malaysian flag high on the international stage, beating more than 12,000 participants from 47 nations," he said in his keynote address at the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) Economic Forum 2017, here, Tuesday.

Earlier, he and the forum participants enjoyed the opening performance by the Tobisa-WindBreeze Dance Company, under the patronage of the Sabah United Tobilung Association.

During the competition in Germany on July 4, Matinin Sungkin, 17, from the Sabah United Tobilung Association, who is also a student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taun Gusi, Kota Belud, bagged the gold medal in the Junior Solo category.

Besides Matinin, a group of students from various schools in Kota Belud, who were in the 10-member dance troupe, emerged not only as champions under the Dance Impact category, but triumphed as winners of the Chairman's Choice Award.

Another student, Mohd Farihin Abdullah,11, was the bronze medallist in the Solo Children National category.

Najib hoped the dancers would continue to strive for excellence while pursuing their passions. – Bernama
