GEORGE TOWN: A joint US-China production is producing a new film on the legendary martial arts exponent and movie star, Bruce Lee, in Penang.Lee's daughter, Shannon Lee, who is co-producing the film, said shooting for the movie, titled "Little Dragon" would be carried out over the next three months here.

"I am so excited to be making a film about my father here in Penang. The film covers my father's life when he was growing up in Hong Kong and because of this, we try to replicate Hong Kong in the 1950s.

"Much of the buildings and things that you have here in Penang are perfect for this film.

Our production crew have been here on the ground for a number of weeks now and we are very excited to be moving forward to the film," she told a press conference after a meeting with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, here Wednesday.

She said Penang , which is known for its Unesco heritage in George Town and rich with historical buildings, had the perfect setting to replicate her father's young life in the 1950s.

Shannon said the film would cover the life of Bruce Lee as a teenager, as a cha cha dancer and his influences.

Meanwhile, co-producer of the film, Tim Kwok, said besides Penang, Pinewood Iskandar Studios in Johor Bharu and Guangzhou, China, had also been chosen as the location shooting venues for the film. – Bernama
