Published on: Friday, August 11, 2017

Kota Kinabalu: Kota Marudu District Officer Arnold Joibi said there is no truth to a picture that went viral in social media about a river in the district supposedly turning red.

He said he contacted all Village Development and Security Committee chairmen and they denied the so called phenomena.

"None of them noticed any river turning red in their respective villages," he said.

He also confirmed nothing unusual happened to the river in Kg Samparita which many claimed to have turned red.

"The JKKK chairman of the village was in fact with me. He did not say anything about the river in his village turning red.

"I called him again this morning and he confirmed there was no such thing," Arnold added.

Daily Express received many calls from readers, Wednesday, wanting to know if it was true.

Efforts to contact the authorities for verification were unsuccessful.
