Sandakan: Umno's presence in Sabah has proven to benefit the people in many ways, according to Sabah Umno Liaision Chief Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

He said Sabah underwent rapid development and transformation in many sectors due to the struggle and attention of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) government on the State's wellbeing.

"Umno is a well-experienced party in governing Malaysia since independence together with the component parties in BN where many programmes and policies have been implemented to help the people and elevate their living standard.

"Umno is also the main pillar or the backbone of the State's governance that has succeeded in developing and uniting the people with diverse background, religious beliefs and culture," he said.

Hence, Musa party members must not be ashamed and afraid to admit that they are Umno members because the party has proven to contribute and bringing development to the people and State with continuous good track of records, he told the delegates meeting of Umno Libaran at a multipurpose hall in Libaran, Saturday.

Umno Vice President cum Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein officiated the event.

Musa said Umno Libaran will continue to become a stronghold of the party as well as across the State.

"Umno is well accepted by the people of Sabah and they are confident with the party struggle.

"Hence, I am calling on the people not to be easily influenced by the opposition who are seasonal when coming down to the grassroots and making empty promises apart from busy going in and out of villages," he said.

On Umno's contribution in security defence, Musa said he appreciated the commitment of the Federal government as a result of a discussion with the Deputy Prime Minister cum Home Minister and Defence Minister on strengthening security and defence in Sabah.

He said the people of Sabah also appreciated and recognised the sacrifice and contribution of the security personnel in safeguarding Sabah from any threat.

"The State government commended the initiative of Hishammuddin in materialising the effort to have Trilateral Maritime Patrol (TMP) between Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia for a long-term cooperation in implementing the Trilateral Cooperative Agreement (TCA) between Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia," he said. - Mardinah Jikur
