Kota Kinabalu: National hurdler Rayzam Shah Wan Sofian received a timely boost in his quest to win the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 110m hurdles gold medal this year at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on August 26 with the imminent arrival of his mentor Jan May.The 30-year-old Sabahan is grateful for the support given by the National Sports Council (NSC) to engage the service of the German national coach who was instrumental in helping him to break the long standing national record of 13.73 seconds set by former international Nur Herman Majid at the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima, Japan with his new time of 13.67 seconds achieved at the German Kurpfalz Gala competition in May."I am really happy my German coach is coming here to help me prepare for the race. ADVERTISEMENT It really gives me that extra boost as he has done me tons of good with his training methods and technical advice, and I am very thankful for the support by NSC."He should be arriving here on August 22 and will leave once my event is over. He will not be able to stay here long as he has a contract with the German national athletics body."Hopefully with his presence, we can work something together to ensure that I will be physically and mentally ready for the final," he said Monday.ADVERTISEMENT He is determined to win back the title he last won 10 years ago at the Korat SEA Games in Thailand despite admitting that he may have a 50-50 chance."There is a 50-50 chance for me to win this year's race but this time I want to make sure that I will cross the line first.

"People said he is the best but it won't bother me and I will fight him 110 percent. I had set myself to run below 13.7 this year to win the gold, and I had proved that I can do it with the new record and I believe it is time for me to reclaim the gold I won 10 years ago." - GL Oh
