Second RM1.6b Tenom dam soon

Tenom: Work on a hydro-electric dam with a capacity of 180 megawatts in Ulu Padas is expected to begin early next year, said Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili.The RM1.6 billion project is in the final stages of financial assessment."This project does not use the State Government's money but is fully funded by a development company with has been agreed upon", he said. Maximus said the site of the dam did not involve any villages but was in a concession area of Sabah Forest Industries.At present, Sabah is capable of generating about 1,200MW while the highest demand was 900MW.
