Lahad Datu: Silam Umno division has forwarded an objection to the party's central leadership over a district polling centre set up by an elected representative here. Its Chief Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal said the setting up of the centre is unnecessary and has caused confusion among Umno members in the district."His action will eventually cause cracks in the party," he said after officiating the Silam Umno division delegates meeting.ADVERTISEMENT Yusof explained that a district polling centre in each division serves to support the election candidate and should not be misused by anyone.Commenting on a statement by MCA which has openly expressed its interest to contest in the Silam state seat, Yusof said the division has no issue about it.However, he insisted that the seat traditionally belongs to Umno and should be given to the party."We will claim the seat for the party has potential candidates who get along well with the people and are winnable," he said.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
