Kota Kinabalu: Opposition SAPP said what differentiates leaders in Gabungan Sabah is that while those like Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (Star), Datuk Lajim Ukin (Parti Harapan Rakyat) and Datuk Yong Teck Lee (SAPP) dumped BN due to differences, another was merely suspended. Its Deputy President Amde Sidik also said opposition parties from the peninsula have no substantial difference in policies towards Sabah."People in Sabah and Sarawak are seeing that all Malayan-based political parties, such as PKR, Pakatan Harapan and BN, are the same in terms of attitude towards Sabah and Sarawak…change could only exist if the current political system is changed," he said in a statement.ADVERTISEMENT He cited among the policies the past 50 years is to maintain Sabah and Sarawak's status as the eleven states in Malaya."Only recently the general public in Sabah and Sarawak became aware that this should not have happened. "The opposition parties in Malaya today would do the same if they form the Federal Government. They also consider Sabah and Sarawak as their fixed deposit to enable them to have power," he said. ADVERTISEMENT He said Dr Jeffery talked about this subject and so did Yong 10 years ago, while Lajim left BN due to disagreement with the policy. However, another Sabahan opposition leader was not even kicked out from BN, but merely suspended.

"And his suspension was not even related to the policy of the Federal Government, it was not about the unfairness in the present political system but due to personal matters."However, this very group had accused the parties under Gabungan Sabah are BN-friendly," he said, referring to Warisan Sabah President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.
