Kota Kinabalu: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's statement that Pakatan Harapan (PH) would continue to negotiate and work with PAS is a slap in the face for PKR Sabah chairperson Christina Liew, said Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chief Publicity Officer Albert Kok. He said Christina's claim that PKR national leadership had decided last week that they would not be negotiating with PAS anymore (for the seats) in the coming election was reduced to a joke with Anwar's statement.

"I bet Christina never expected PKR is on the verge of breaking up," he said.

Kok said Anwar's contradicting stance against PH's decision not to work with PAS has proven that the opposition coalition, PKR included, has not found their way out yet.

"This goes to show that Special Tasks Minister cum LDP President Datuk Teo Chee Kang has been right about what he said.

"At the 43rd anniversary celebration and installation ceremony of the Federation of Sabah and Labuan Hokkien Associations, Teo has pointed out that PH was currently at a crossroads, not knowing which direction to go and therefore confuses the Chinese community.

"PH is divided when it comes to whether or not to work with PAS, which proves what Teo has said is right all along," he said in a statement, Tuesday.

Kok said Teo was merely pointing out the predicament faced by PH and urged the Chinese community to consider and evaluate whether the opposition coalition was worth their trust and support.

"There is no scare tactic involved at all. Teo never underestimated the wisdom of the Chinese community.

"On the contrary, I think I have overestimated Christina's political wisdom given the opposing views between her and Anwar.

"If Christina disagrees with Anwar's statement, she should have voiced her stand on behalf of PKR Sabah.

"Since Christina said PKR Sabah has officially cut ties with PKR in 2015 and would not work with the Islamic party in the next general election, I urge her to reiterate her stance as Anwar has stated that cooperating with PAS was a national strategy that was not just limited to Selangor.

"This means that the opposition in Sabah may also be working with PAS," Kok said.

He said all eyes were now on Christina and PKR Sabah on how they handle this matter.

"Will Christina obey or oppose her national leader's stand? The ball is in her court now.

Christina must make her stand clear to all Sabahans!," Kok said.
